8/1/2019

At 8 a.m., friends from a congregation in Amsterdam arrived to take us out in the ministry. This cutie pie is Jack, and his Opa (grandfather) was our driver to the meeting for service.

Arriving at the Hall. It's one of the oldest in Amsterdam and is scheduled for a remodel next month.

The friends had so much food waiting for us and wanted to get photos before we split into car groups.

Something about the little congregation we met with reminded us of our own back in Jenkins. They were exceptionally warm, hospitable and zealous. We grew to love them in the short time we visited.

Opa, as he let us affectionately refer to him, entertained us the entire ride to Amsterdam. He and his wife (who he told us is "the most beautiful girl in the world"❤) have twin sons- Robert and Bobby. Here's the story behind their names, as Opa tells it:
"In 1975, we went to convention in New York. We stayed with a brother- his name is Robert. But his wife! She calls him Bobby. So, later, we have twin boys and we say, ah! That is the names!"
And he seemed to find it as funny as we did!

Jack's younger sisters

This sweet sister, Annelies, led me out to her car to offer a beautiful snowglobe with a windmill inside. She felt bad that she didn't have a snowglobe for everyone, even though she had already given each friend a thoughtful gift!

In the territory

This is Raisa, who was recently baptized. She came into the truth on her own, despite the disapproval of her Muslim family

Working with Methel and Jay

We had a nice time! Addison placed all of his invitations.

This crane just appeared and started following us to the doors!

After service, Methel hosted us in her home for lunch. We got to try some traditional Dutch foods, like...

Pickled herring!

Croquettes!

And pannekoek (Dutch pancakes)

Beautiful little DanĂa

The friends took us to see a nearby windmill before driving us back to Utrecht
